When I first became interested in midwifery, I was living and traveling to places where midwives supported their communities in many capacities- offering counsel, massage, treating ill children and family members with herbal remedies, mediating strained relationships etc.. I always knew that was the midwife I wanted to become. It has taken me a long time to bring all of these aspects into my practice as a midwife- learning about healing plants, hands-on healing, giving birth to my own children, losing pregnancies, and so many other experiences that have informed who I have become as a midwife. I see these “additional midwifery/healing/coaching” services as my “village midwife” services. In creating these offerings, I am able to bring midwifery care to many people- not just those choosing homebirth.
